Community engagement task force 2.0

Marquette University Launches Community Engagement Task Force 2.0

In the summer of 2018, President Lovell requested Former Provost Dan Myers to convene the next iteration of the Community Engagement Task Force to seek recommendations on how to institutionalize community engagement at Marquette. Comprised of internal leaders, external community partners and the larger campus, the outputs of the Task Force will help further solidify Marquette as a local, national and global leader in community engagement. A steering committee & dimension leads has been established to provide oversight, guidance and support. Dimension leads are tasked with exploring strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats in the current state, identifying national best practices and making recommendations in the following six dimensions:

(1) Faculty & Staff Engagement

(2) Student Engagement

(3) Mission

(4) Partnership Management & Cultivation

(5) Impact/Assessment

(6) Profile & Membership

To-date, over 80 individuals have been invited to participate in these working teams to help create a future state with increased impact, stronger relationships and opportunities to practice our Catholic, Jesuit values.

Driven to realize Marquette’s Catholic, Jesuit mission, students, faculty and staff strive to play an increasingly vital role in our city and our world, working with our partners to tackle pressing challenges and build hope where it’s needed most.

Established in early 2016, the university’s Office of Community Engagement serves as the central clearinghouse for community engagement activities, with a focus on bidirectional, community-based research partnerships.
