Dr. Dan Bergen, Executive Director, Marquette Office of Community Engagement

Dr. Dan Bergen is the founding, and executive director of the Office of Community Engagement at Marquette University where he is responsible for the promotion and support of community engagement in research, community-based teaching, and service. Dr. Bergen began working at Marquette University in 2004, most recently serving as the interim assistant vice president of student affairs where he oversaw divisional communications, sexual violence prevention education and advocacy, and neighborhood relations. He is the co-chair of the Housing Working Team for the Near West Side Partners, a member of the Regional Community Engagement Steering Committee, and one of the goal stewards for Marquette University’s “Social Responsibility through Community Engagement” strategic initiative. He has presented locally and nationally on the topics of university/community relations, and student tenant/property owner mediation, consulted regionally on sexual violence prevention education, and adjunct taught in the English Departments at Marquette University and Carthage College. He is a proud alum of Marquette, native of Milwaukee and, in his free time, enjoys engaging the local community with his wife and two small children.
