Policies and Procedures

Building Access

Information about all campus building access can be found on the main Covid-19 website; see Campus Buildings Access. Faculty, staff and graduate assistant, teaching assistants and research assistants will have MUID card access to their “home” building 24/7 and any additional buildings they currently have 24/7 access to.

Committee Meetings

Check with the committee chairperson for the most up-to-date information about upcoming committee meetings.

Course evaluations

Given Marquette University’s decision to move all courses online as a result of COVID-19, Provost Ah Yun has decided to suspend MOCES student course evaluations for spring term 2020. Students will be given an opportunity to provide feedback about course experiences, however that feedback will not be tied to individual course instructors.

Department / College Meetings

Check with your department chair or associate dean for the most current information about upcoming department and college meetings.

Grading Scale

Modifications to the existing grading scale are under consideration. No decision has been made at this time.

Student Advising

Advising for Summer 2020 as well as Fall 2020 is underway. Faculty should contact their department chairs or other college/school administrator with specific advising questions. For faculty advising undergraduate students, please note the Engaging Social Systems and Values 2 requirement will be waived for all students who entered Marquette in the fall of 2018 and the fall of 2019.

Marquette is restricting all new, non-essential university-sponsored travel (domestic and international) until further notice. Trips currently taking place are not being recalled. This difficult decision was made in consultation with our campus’ infectious disease experts in an attempt to slow the spread of the coronavirus. Faculty and staff should work with their supervisors to determine which travel is essential.

Promotion and Tenure

Dossier Preparation

Dossier preparers should continue to collect information necessary for promotion and tenure dossiers, following university guidelines. As you do so, please be sure to consider the timing of your requests recognizing the many challenges faculty and students are currently facing.

Promotion and Tenure Timeline for 2020-21

Due dates associated with promotion and tenure cases are typically posted and distributed by April 1 each year. Changes to the timeline are under consideration, however no changes have been made at this time.

Timebound Year Extensions for Pre-tenured Faculty

Adjustments to the timebound year for pre-tenured faculty are under consideration. No decision has been made at this time.

Use of Spring 2020 Student Course Evaluations (MOCES) in Promotion and Tenure Decisions

Provost AhYun has suspended MOCES student course evaluations for spring term 2020 and as such they will not be used in promotion and tenure decisions.
