Is the Medical Clinic seeing employees at this time?

The Medical Clinic does not see faculty and staff for COVID or other illnesses. However, the clinic will provide COVID testing to faculty and staff who are identified as a close contact through contact tracing to a case on campus.

The Medical Clinic does provide flu shots for faculty and staff and will have on-campus flu clinics this fall.

Who is notified when an employee completes the voluntary self-disclosure form?

Medical Clinic staff receive the information and facilitate contact tracing.

How will I know that an employee has tested positive or is in quarantine?

Employees are responsible for notifying their supervisor that they have been advised to quarantine/isolate and will not be able to attend work in-person during their quarantine period. Employees do not need to indicate specifics about test results or symptoms. Supervisors are not notified when an employee has tested positive or has been advised to quarantine by the Marquette Medical Clinic.

Will the Medical Clinic notify me that an employee on my team is in quarantine or has tested positive?

No, you will only be notified if you are considered a close contact (the notification will include specific directives). You will not be given the name of the employee or student who was in close contact. Employees are responsible for notifying their supervisor that they have been advised to quarantine/isolate and will not be able to attend work in-person during their quarantine period.

What is the employee’s responsibility to notify their supervisor that they need to quarantine or isolate?

Employees are responsible for notifying their supervisor that they have been advised to quarantine/isolate and will not be able to attend work in-person during their quarantine period. Employees do not need to indicate specifics about test results or symptoms.

What information can I share with the rest of my department or office?

If you learn that an employee has COVID-19 or is in quarantine, you may not disclose that information. However, you can share when the employee is expected to return in order to help facilitate re-direction of that employee’s work. Any employee that was in close contact will be notified during the contract tracing process.

What if members of my team are considered a close contact through tracing, will I know?

Only individuals who are identified as close contacts will be notified. Employees are responsible for notifying their supervisor that they have been advised to quarantine/isolate and will not be able to attend work in-person during their quarantine period.

Can employees work remotely during quarantine or isolation?

Yes, employees can perform work from home during their quarantine period as long as they:

  1. Feel well enough to work
  2. Have received supervisor approval and
  3. Their work is conducive to a remote format

How can I support an employee that is in quarantine/isolation?

When job duties are conducive to remote work, supervisors are encouraged to let employees do so, stay in frequent communication with employees and remind them of the available support resources on the COVID website (employee testing information, EAP, Faber Center, etc.) Additionally, remind employees to complete the Voluntary Disclosure Form. Please note they will need to update the form should they become symptomatic.
