  • Added ‘A Culture of Inclusion’ as one of our six Strategic Plan Themes
  • Conducted First Climate Study in University’s History in 2015 and conducted second this year
  • Started Cluster Hiring Program to Significantly Diversify Faculty
  • Hired/Promoted several senior leaders of color (Provost, VP Student Affairs, VP for Inclusive Excellence, Dean of Communication, and Chief of Police)
  • Created the RISE Program for First Generation Students
  • ULC Members All Completed YWCA’s Unlearning Racism Course
  • Offered Unlearning Racism courses for Faculty, Staff, and Students

  • MU Counseling Center seeking to hire a new Counselor for Fall with specific competency in meeting the mental health needs of African American populations

  • President’s Challenge II – Coronavirus Emergency Projects ($200K)
  • Launched Scaling Wellness in Milwaukee (Raised nearly $400K through philanthropy and grants)
  • Explorer Challenge Grants Focused of Diversity and Inclusion Issues ($50k)
  • Co-Sponsored the Milwaukee’s 2019 Poverty Summit with the Social Development Corporation ($50k)
  • Obtaining $3M HUD grant for the Near West Side
  • Worked with Milwaukee area youth in pre-college programs such as our creation of the Leadership and Brotherhood Summit (LAB) for Black male high school students
