Q. How do I earn my 2020 FSA/HSA contribution from Marquette University?

A. Employees and spouses of employees on a Marquette University sponsored health plan will have from November 20, 2018 – November 19, 2019 to earn 45,000 points through the Virgin Pulse wellness portal. The Virgin Pulse wellness portal operates on a points and levels system, allowing you to earn points for engaging in wellness activities of your choice. Wellness activities that are offered at Marquette University are also included in the portal, so you can now earn points for participating in activities on campus such as taking a class through the GROW program, a group fitness or meditation class, financial wellness classes, and even for just getting your flu shot or dental/eye exams. Q. How do I take the online health risk assessment?

A. The online questionnaire can be taken by logging into the Virgin Pulse wellness portal. If you are already a member, you can login at member.virginpulse.com. If you haven’t logged in yet, go to join.virginpulse.com/MarquetteUniversity. You can use any email address as your username. Passwords need to be a minimum of 8 characters in length and contain the following:

  • A lower case character (a through z)
  • An upper case character (A through Z)
  • A number (0 through 9)
  • A non-alphanumeric character (!@#$%)

Once logged in, you should be prompted to take the Health Risk Assessment. It can also be found under Programs.

Q. If I would like to earn my 2020 FSA/HSA contribution, and I have a spouse on a Marquette sponsored health plan, is our contribution still earned jointly?

A. Yes. Both you and your spouse will need to participate to earn your 2020 FSA/HSA contribution. This means that both of you will need to earn 45,000 points (reach level 4) to earn 100% of these funds. The total amount you can earn depends on the plan that you are signed up for, but the total amount can only be received if both you and your spouse participate. Since you can earn partial contributions to your FSA/HSA for 2020, the total amount you will receive is based on the highest level that both you and your spouse achieve. This means if one of you reaches level four and one of you reaches level two, the highest level that you both achieved was level two and you would be awarded 50% of the total contribution that is offered. Q. Can partial FSA/HSA contributions be earned for 2020?

A. Yes, you can earn partial contributions. The Virgin Pulse wellness portal operates on a points and levels systems. There are four levels and up to 45,000 points to be earned. As you earn points, you will increase in levels, and for each level you achieve, you will earn 25% of your FSA/HSA contribution. You have from November 20, 2018 – November 19, 2019 to earn 45,000 points, or level four, to earn 100% of your 2020 FSA/HSA contribution.

Q. In the past, I was asked to complete the online health risk assessment (the online questionnaire) and the biometric screening. Can I still complete these activities to earn my 2020 FSA/HSA Contribution?

 

A. Although you can still take the online Health Risk Assessment (HRA) and complete your biometric screening, these activities are optional, and you will need to participate in other activities to earn 100% of your contribution. The HRA is worth 2,500 points and the biometric screening is worth 4,500 points. We encourage you to take part in activities that support your own personal wellbeing.

 

Q. What if I’m not on a Marquette sponsored health plan? Can I still participate?

 A. Yes. The wellness portal is open to all Marquette University employees and spouses.

Q. Are there any rewards for employees and spouses that are not on a Marquette University sponsored health plan?

A. All Marquette University employees and spouses of a Marquette employee are eligible to earn raffle ticket entries for quarterly prize drawings. As you earn points and move through the levels, raffle tickets are earned, and the more you earn, the more you increase your chances for winning one of our quarterly drawing. These drawings will take place in February, May, August and November, and we are giving away over 280 prizes this year.

Q. Are raffle rewards considered taxable income?

A. PulseCash is considered compensation for U.S. and Canadian tax purposes and therefore needs to be reported as income when doing your taxes. If you’d like to opt out of the rewards, this is also an option. 

Q. What if my spouse is unable to register for the portal?

A. If your spouse is receiving an error when trying to register for the portal, go to your MyJob account and take the following steps:

  •  Sign into MyJob
  • Click on MU Employee Self Service
  • Click on Personal Actions
  • Press Start
  • Scroll down to Emergency Contacts and click Add
  • Enter your spouse’s name and make sure to select Spouse as the relationship
  • Click Next, check that the information is correct, then hit Submit

You will also need to ensure your spouse’s date of birth is on file. You can add this under Dependents and Beneficiaries. Dependents and Beneficiaries is found under Personal Actions just below Emergency Contacts.    

  • Select your spouse's name and then click Update.
  • Fill in the Date of Birth
  • Click Next, check that the information is correct, then hit Submit

 

Q. Do I have to own a Max Buzz to track my steps?

A. No. There are many devices supported by the Virgin Pulse Wellness Portal, and if you do not want to track your steps, there are a variety of other wellness options for you to participate in to earn your points. Log in to the wellness portal and click on How to Earn under the Rewards tab to view a detailed list of ways to earn points.

Q. Is there a mobile app?

A. Yes. The Virgin Pulse wellness portal can be accessed via your desktop/laptop computer by going to member.virginpulse.com or via a mobile app on your smartphone. For more information on compatible devices and how to download, check out the following links:

Q. How do I self-report activities like Grow classes, RetireU, TIAA Individual Counseling Sessions, Flu shots, EAP use and Eye/Dental Exams?

A. You can self-report these activities through the website or the app by going to “Programs” and clicking “Start Now”. In the website you can also go to the Rewards tab and click How to Earn. Scroll down to Participation and then click on any of the activities listed to self-report.

Q. How does Virgin Pulse share and protect our data?

A. You are in control of how much data you share with Virgin Pulse and what programs you consent Virgin Pulse to share data with. Virgin Pulse does not share or rent your data to anyone, and they are compliant with the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Any data you have provided to Virgin Pulse is shared with Marquette University in aggregate form and no information can be traced back to you. We encourage you to read the full privacy policy, data consent, and membership agreement from Virgin Pulse found on our website.
