Representatives for the GSO Council are volunteered/nominated by their respective department or program to serve as a representative to the GSO. They attend bi-semester GSO Council meetings and assist the Chair in communicating with students in their respective program/department. GSO Council members also present the GSO with ideas or issues that are important to the students within their discipline. If your department does not have a department representative and you would like to volunteer, please email gso@marquette.edu. Feel free to contact your department representatives with ideas or issues that you would like to see the GSO work on!
The Academic Senate is a deliberative body with responsibilities for academic policy formulation of an all-University character and for the review and evaluation of academic programs and planning. Its conclusions on academic policy, academic planning, and program evaluation represent the official collective stance of the Academic Division, and they will be reported as such by the Provost, to the appropriate higher authorities. Recommendations of the Academic Senate are subject to the approval of the President and the Trustees. One student member from the professional or graduate body is selected to serve a one-year term.
The Board for Student Media is the committee of the Academic Senate that oversees Marquette University’s student media. These include the Marquette Tribune, Marquette Journal, Marquette Radio, MUTV, Student Interactive Media and any future ventures conducted under the direction of Student Media. The Board is responsible for:

The Committee on Teaching is a committee of the Academic Division that reports to the Academic Senate and the Provost. The Committee addresses and advances the practice and scholarship of teaching and learning at Marquette University. The Committee is responsible for:

The Counseling Center Advisory Board (CCAB)exists to promote a positive and open channel of communication between the Counseling Center and the student body. CCAB members are students whose feedback and leadership is used to enhance awareness of student issues as they relate to services offered by the Counseling Center and promote awareness of how the services support personal and academic success. CCAB members serve a one-year term and meet two times per semester.
The University Financial Planning and Review Committee (UFPRC) is advisory to the President and supports the financial planning and program review functions for the university in consultation with senior administration. Its purposes are (1) to formulate a balanced operating budget and recommendations that support the university’s strategic plan and academic and administrative priorities, (2) to develop a balanced Capital Budget, (3) to project the long-term implications of the annual budget, and (4) to conduct financial analyses of selected programs.
The Innovation Council reviews pre-proposals and proposals to the Strategic Innovation Fund, meets to discuss the review process and the results, and attends Strategic Innovation Fund events.
The Marquette Forum is a yearlong series of inclusive conversations, bringing experts of national renown together with those from Marquette and the Milwaukee community. The Steering Committee will help direct the events of the 2017-2018 forum, with a focus around health.
Sexual Violence Prevention Education Coordination Committee
The Sexual Violence Prevention Education Coordinating Committee is an interdisciplinary work group comprised of administrative staff, faculty and students; whose mission is to be informed about, coordinate and support comprehensive sexual violence prevention education at Marquette.
The committee has three main goals: (1) use as a consulting and advisory committee for student affairs matters, (2) discuss what is and is not working on campus, and (3) discuss campus climate and current issues facing Marquette students.

The Board shall address formulating plans and policies for all graduate and professional education and shall serve as a forum to discuss continuous improvement of the graduate and professional programs. The University Staff Senate is a group that represents Marquette University staff to ensure that the interests of staff are considered alongside those of faculty and students in institutional affairs that affect life in the workplace and in the advancement of the university's mission.
