Summer 2022 Mini Grants

The Office of Research and Innovation, in collaboration with the Committee on Research, will be offering two mini-grant funding opportunities for June 2022.  We are pleased to partner with the Office of Diversity and Inclusion on the Track 1 opportunity.

  • Track 1: Research Program Recovery
  • Track 2: Research Community Building

We know that faculty research activities have been impacted over the past 2+ years due to a variety of challenges, including (but not limited to): increased teaching and/or service time needed during the pandemic, decreased access to research locations or participants, and increased personal obligations such as caregiving responsibilities.  In consultation with the Committee on Research, the Office of Research and Innovation is allocating some remaining funds from this fiscal year in the form of June 2022 mini-grants with a simple, streamlined application and decision-making process.  The Office of Diversity and Inclusion is partnering with us on this initiative to fund selected projects that deal with research around DEI issues, broadly defined.

Recipients of these mini-grants will be expected to provide input to the COR’s Solutions-Based Research Community to assist in longer-term resource development and planning.  This is particularly important as we know that there are more needs than can be accommodated with funding in June 2022. This track is open to all full-time faculty continuing at Marquette in Fall 2022.  Priority will be given to applicants who do not have other summer funding for research AND who are at critical career stages or at key points in their research programs.  Deans, associate deans for research, or department chairs may be consulted as part of the review process.

The Committee on Research seeks to foster the development of interdisciplinary research communities. As part of this process, funding for small teams of 2-4 faculty interested in exploring the building of a research community will be provided. This track is open to any full-time faculty continuing at Marquette in Fall 2022.
