  1. I'm not new to Marquette, and I know my username and password. How do I set up password recovery?
Registering a phone number or secondary email address means you can reset your password if you forget it. See these instructions to register.

  2. I applied to Marquette University as a student. How do I set up password recovery?
Marquette University sends a CheckMarq welcome message via e-mail to student applicants at their supplied personal email address. Make sure you have that e-mail handy and follow these setup instructions.

  3. When I use the password recovery website, I received this error: "We could not verify your account."
The "We could not verify your account" error means that there is not a phone number or secondary email address registered for your account. Please contact the IT Services Help Desk at (414) 288-7799 for password assistance.

  4. When do I need to use recovery methods to reset my password?
Once you have registered a phone number or secondary email address, you can reset your forgotten or expired password without needing to call the IT Services Help Desk. Just follow the reset instructions. You can also unlock your account if it's temporarily locked due to multiple failed password attempts. If your password is known and has not expired, there are other ways to change your password.

  5. I work for Marquette, but I don't have a mobile phone.
If you don't have a mobile phone, a faculty or staff member can use a secondary email address for password recovery. Or you can enter the phone number of a physically secured office phone as the authentication phone, then use the call option to recover a forgotten password.

  6. How will I know if my password is about to expire?
Current passwords expire after 180 days. Passwords created as of March 8, 2023 do not expire. You will receive email message warnings from IT Services 7 days and 14 days before your password expires.
