Dr. Joya Crear
Dr. Joya Crear is the acting vice president for inclusive excellence. She joined Marquette University in 2017 as the assistant vice president for the Division of Student Affairs. Crear has more than 20 years’ experience in student affairs leadership, particularly in diversity and inclusion, counseling and crisis intervention, strategic planning and student retention strategies.
She has been recognized for her commitment to diversity and inclusion as the recipient of the 2019 JASPA Outstanding Commitment to Diversity and Social Justice Award and Marquette’s Difference Maker Award for her work developing the RISE program, an orientation for historically marginalized student populations.
Crear holds a doctorate in counseling psychology from The Pennsylvania State University. She also attended Howard University and the University of Wisconsin-Madison for her bachelor’s and master’s degrees, respectively.
