Collaborate with faculty and appropriate departments and units to increase librarian engagement in the research process.

  • Collaborate across library departments to expand and promote liaison understanding of and their role in supporting faculty research

Expand the Libraries’ capacity to advance campus initiatives in digital scholarship.

  • Concentrate library expertise and resources in digital scholarship into a single service point and develop a knowledgebase of digital scholarship tools

Develop and implement appropriate library support services for research data management.

  • Consult with ORSP and faculty researchers on the development of data management plans for grant proposals

Create and refine spaces, services, and programs that support the use of digital tools and the creation and use of digital scholarly content.

  • Build sandbox to promote investigation of tools in support of digital scholarship, in particular, those related to mapping, visualization and faculty research

Increase the Libraries’ capacity to acquire and manage new forms of digital scholarly content, including data sets and multimedia.

  • Research and implement a scalable storage platform for the maintenance and preservation of digital resources including datasets

Develop and implement agile collection building strategies, policies, and procedures to address evolving curricular and research needs in the context of the changing marketplace.

  • Investigate data reports that are available to support evidence-based acquisition decisions

  • Through membership in the Digital Public Library of America, contribute unique collections of digitized images for greater discoverability and access to materials held in cultural heritage organizations around the country.

Increase Libraries’ capacity to acquire and access information resources in all formats.

  • Advocate for further capitalization of electronic resources and implement revised payment practices

Build out an adaptable, sustainable infrastructure that supports the full life cycle of digital scholarly content, from creation to preservation and access.

  • Continue to investigate infrastructure needs of the library to manage a range of digitized and born-digital materials, streaming videos, and virtual storage
  • Improve accessibility of electronic information through assessment and compliance with WCAG 2 AA and Section 508 web accessibility standards including closed captioning for video materials

Create new opportunities for collaboration across campus, Milwaukee, and Jesuit higher education.

  • Collaborate with other repositories, such as DPLA or local professional groups. to explore opportunities to share expertise in electronic records, digitization, metadata and other areas of digital content
  • Continue to seek funding for the Dorothy Day digitization project with the CRRA collaborators

Cultivate donor relations that support programming, collections, and other initiatives.

  • Work with the Libraries’ advancement officer to develop a fundraising strategy
  • Identify and prioritize current and new initiatives that will appeal to donors
  • Develop a fundraising narrative for the Libraries and ensure that Advancement and Libraries staff are well versed in it

Employ integrated communication strategies to promote the Libraries’ resources and services.

  • Continue to leverage social media and other digital tools to promote library collections and services

  • Host a session on Ignatian values and pedagogy and how they can be applied to the work in the library

Assess operations, organizational structures, and facilities using qualitative and quantitative data to ensure efficiency and sustainability and enrich learning and research.

  • Continue strategic weeding / deaccessioning projects for large collections
  • Collect and analyze data to evaluate e-book preference and use among faculty and students
