Format for New Testament Mysticism Project

1. We all need to use the same font program from the beginning of this project to the end.  So go to the SBL website and download the Greek and Hebrew from there.  Greek should be written in small case with accents and breathing marks.  Hebrew, use consonants only.

2. Do not use footnotes.  References should be made intertextually, i.e. (author, date, pages). 

3. For Select Bibliography, use Author-Date Citation format found on p. 64-67 of The SBL Handbook of Style.

4. Use Times New Roman font, 12-point font for headers, 10-point font for text. 

5. Double-space entries.

6. Use Microsoft Word.

7. Build your entries using the following format and numbering system.  See next page.

Note: for English translation, let’s use RSV for now.  We can discuss in Washington, D.C. whether we want to provide our own translation and, if so, what translation rules we want to adopt.

3. Reception History

Discussion of the use of the pericope in the Ante-Nicene period.  Track pericope through the Ante-Nicene literature and the Nag Hammadi collection (from bible to Nicaea).  For Nag Hammadi you might start with Evans, Webb, and Wiebe, Nag Hammadi Texts and the Bible: A Synopsis and Index.  You can look up the biblical passage and immediately locate them in the Nag Hammadi texts.
