2017 Federal Income Tax Information, Student & Spouse

This is not a downloadable form.

The 2019-2020 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) was revised to make the form easier to complete and to improve the accuracy of the information provided on the form. For the 2019–20 FAFSA, students (and spouse, as appropriate) will report their tax year 2017 income information.

Student Information

If you are selected for Verification, Marquette University is required to confirm your tax information. We are not able to accept Federal Tax Returns (including 2017 IRS Form 1040, 1040A, 1040EZ) for this requirement. Instead, students can use the IRS Data Retrieval Tool on the FAFSA by selecting Link to IRS to automatically transfer tax information to the FAFSA and to the University. If you are not eligible to use the IRS Data Retrieval Tool, you must submit a signed copy of your 2017 Federal IRS Tax Return Transcript.

Spouse Information

If you are a married student who is selected for Verification, Marquette University is required to confirm your spouse's tax information. We are not able to accept Federal Tax Returns (including 2017 IRS Form 1040, 1040A, 1040EZ) for this requirement. Instead, your spouse can use the IRS Data Retrieval Tool on the FAFSA by selecting Link to IRS to automatically transfer tax information to the FAFSA and to the University. If your spouse is not eligible to use the IRS Data Retrieval Tool, your spouse must submit a signed copy of his/her 2017 Federal IRS Tax Return Transcript.

NOTE: If you or your spouse did not file a 2017 federal tax return and you receive notice you have been selected for verification, you must obtain documentation from the IRS that you did not file.
