Summer 2014 faculty-led programs released

Marquette faculty-led summer programs are an ideal opportunity for students to build on their global experiences. Applications are now open. Explore programs in Argentina, China, Finland and Russia, Jordan, Peru, Spain, South Africa and more.

Study Abroad Fair - Jan. 29

Dr. German Carrillo headshotThe Office of International Education will host its biannual Study Abroad Fair Wednesday, January 29 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on the second floor of the AMU. Marquette's spring study abroad fair highlights all summer study abroad options available to students. Students will have the opportunity to chat with advisors, program coordinators and study abroad veterans. Additionally, the following week, OIE will host a series of study abroad information sessions on specific country programs. International Research Poster Session award winners announced

Group photo of European Alumni NetworkThe Office of International Education hosted the 2013 International Research Poster Session in collaboration with the Forward Thinking Poster Session and Colloquy sponsored by the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs (ORSP), the Office of the Vice Provost for Research, and the Graduate Student Organization on Tuesday, December 3. The event showcased international research among faculty members from all disciplines and connected faculty and students across the university.

A panel of judges awarded $1,500 international research grants to two faculty members in recognition of their research. The award winners include:

“Untold Stories: An African Society and the Second World War (Nigeria)”
Dr. Chima Korieh, associate professor, History Department

“Designing Human-Computer Interfaces for Elderly People in Taiwan”
Dr. Sheikh Iqbal Ahamed, professor, Mathematics, Statistics and Computer Science

The Office of International Education applauds each of the participants who participated this year including Dr. Nur Uysal, Dr. Jean Grow, Dr. Iqbal Ahamed and Dr. Chima Korieh. Their research enriches the international community.



Peace, Education, Health and Human Security Issues in Africa - Opportunities and Challenges

UWM welcomes Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, former president of Nigeria. An internationally known African leader, Obasanjo is credited with transforming Nigeria into a democracy and fostering economic stability. Chief Olusegun Obasanjo will present the John J. Solon Memorial Lecture. Doors open at 7 a.m. A light continental breakfast will be served. Reservations are required. RSVP to or call (773) 387-4865.
