Paul Joseph's great love of teaching meteorology started in 1969 while he was a graduate student at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City. Paul received his masters degree in meteorology with an air pollution minor from Utah and did his undergraduate work at both the University of Wisconsin in Madison and the University of Utah.

In 1970 Paul and his wife Judy moved to Milwaukee as Paul became the first broadcast meteorologist on Milwaukee television. Paul retired as Chief Meteorologist of WTMJ-TV in 2006 after a 36 year career forecasting Wisconsin’s very interesting and challenging weather. In 2009 Paul received a lifetime achievement award from the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences by being inducted into their Silver Circle. In 2008 Paul was honored by the Milwaukee Press Club and inducted into the Media Hall of Fame. In 2001 Paul became only the 24th broadcaster in the United States to be recognized by the American Meteorological Society with its highest honor for a broadcaster, the Award for Outstanding Service by a Broadcast Meteorologist. In 1995 he was named a Fellow of the AMS for his over 25 years of involvement in the improvement of broadcast meteorology, both in Wisconsin and nationwide, and for his contribution to weather education in the Milwaukee area. In 1991, the National Weather Association named Joseph its Radio/Television Broadcaster of the year. Joseph is a past member of both the American Meteorological Society Board of Broadcast Meteorology and its Board of Meteorological Education.

During his broadcasting career Paul continued his teaching first at the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee and then at Marquette. In 1988 he created Physics 1007, Survey of Meteorology, for the students of Marquette University.

Paul enjoys swimming, bike riding, sports, a good book, movies, the theatre, and traveling, especially by train. Paul and Judy have designed rail tours and led groups all over the world.
