Days/Hours of Volunteering: Students can find out specific days and times for service learning during the Service Learning Sign-Up Night.

Description of Agency/Activities: Project STAY is an alternative school offering a nurturing and challenging education to 250 high school students, ages 16-21, who are at risk of dropping out. Students apply for Project STAY and are accepted based upon the definition of at-risk under Wisconsin state law. To be enrolled, students must appreciate what the program offers, follow school rules, maintain a 90% attendance and complete the at-risk requirement. All courses offered to students have a ratio of 2 teachers per 20 students in each class. Students are enrolled in a morning or afternoon session to complete their courses. Student can enroll in extra-curricular classes to obtain credits towards graduation.

Student Role in Agency: The students from Marquette University will provide academic support in the areas of Reading/ English, Science, and Math. Service Learners will be able to work with students on independent reading during reading group (Monday–Friday from 8:00 am-11:00 am and from 12:00 pm- 3:00 pm.). Service Learners will also help assist students with mathematics during the school day.  Students needing assistance in mathematics will be pulled from their classroom and brought into the Parent Resource Room to be tutored by a Service Learner.
