Description of Agency/Activities: AABN was founded in 2008 to: 1) address breastfeeding disparities, 2) increase awareness of the benefits and value of mother’s milk, 3) build community allies, and 4) de-normalize formula use. Our mission is to promote breastfeeding as the natural and the best way to provide optimal nourishment to babies and young children. Our vision is to live in a world where breastfeeding is the norm in the African American community.  The hallmark of our work are our Breastfeeding Community Gatherings designed to increase breastfeeding confidence and rates.

Student Role at Agency:There are many job tasks that can be performed by the student.  Here is a partial list:

*Important Information: AABN would like student to assist with breastfeeding gatherings that happen every 2nd Thursday (5:30pm-7:00pm) of each month and every 3rd Saturday (11:30am-1:00pm) of each month. Please make sure you can attend either of these gatherings each month. Refer to a calendar for the exact dates. The student will assist with the breastfeeding gatherings in addition to doing the tasks outlined above.

The only requirement is that the student comes with a willing heart to serve families and to release their privilege in a safe space.
