By bus:Take the Gold, 30 or 30X East from 16th and Wells and get off on Plankinton and Wisconsin or take the 14, 23 or Blue from 16th at Wisconsin and get off at 2nd and Wisconsin

Days/Hours of Volunteering Needle Exchange: Two hour slot between Monday-Thursday 10am-6pm or Friday 9am-5pm.

Description of Agency/Activities: The AIDS Resource Center of Wisconsin, Inc. (ARCW) is a private, nonprofit health and social service agency that works to confront and alleviate the effects of HIV disease in Wisconsin. ARCW provides aggressive HIV education and prevention, access to comprehensive services for people affected by HIV disease, clinical research on HIV treatment, and HIV advocacy.

Student Role at Agency in Prevention Services: ARCW has limited placements in this department. Students working here will be focused on the prevention aspect of HIV and AIDS, assisting with the needle exchange program and other tasks. Scheduling will occur at orientation, so make sure to bring your class schedule!

HEAL 2045: Normal and Therapeutic Nutrition Students Only: Students with work in the ARCW-Food Pantry. Students will help with food pantry operations-sorting and shelving groceries, packing grocery bags, filling orders, stocking shelves, and loading and unloading deliveries.

Days/Hours of Service: Monday-Thursday 10am-6pm, Friday 9am-5pm



Other: Students will be working in a professional environment with sensitive information, therefore professional behavior is expected. The site depends on the volunteers each week, so students should be on time and ready to go every week.
