Transportation: Easy walk from anywhere on campus, however if you perform your service at night, be sure to take the LIMOs.

Orientation: January 25th 2-4pm OR January 29th 8:30-10:30am OR January 30th 8:30-10:30am or February 9th 2-4pm

Days/Hours of Volunteering: Students can find out specific days and times for service learning during the Service Learning Sign-Up Night.

Description of Agency/Activities: Aurora Sinai is a teaching hospital in the heart of Milwaukee. They are dedicated to providing personal, high quality, cost effective health care. They embrace a philosophy of love, service, kindness, and sensitivity, and they work hard to serve a diverse population in the best way possible. In addition, the hospital provides many unique health services, including Acute Care for the Elderly, Asthma Care Management, Audiology Services, Sports Medicine Institute, Behavioral Health Services, Neonatal Intensive Care, Breast Health Center, Diabetes and Nutrition Center, Geriatrics Institute, Inpatient Rehab, Milwaukee Heart Institute, Positive Health Clinic, Perinatal Assessment Center, Regional Parkinson Center, Sexual Assault Treatment Center, Sleep Disorder Center, Vince Lombardi Cancer Clinic, and Women’s Health Services.

Student Role in Agency: The hospital offers a wide variety of service opportunities. Students will work with the volunteer coordinator to find an opportunity that works for them. Options include front entrance ambassador,post anesthesia care unit, Emergency Department navigator, patient companion, and CNA buddy.

Students Enrolled in BISC 4150: Outbreaks, Epidemics, and Pandemics: A student will work in the Outpatient Women's Department. The student will conduct research regarding the importance of immunizing newborns and the myths surrounding immunizations. After research is performed, student will create a patient information handout, and then possibly do some education at a labor and delivery class. Student may do a project around HPV (the difference between HPV that leads to cervical cancer vs condyloma, the Gardasil vaccine, etc).
