Transportation:

By car: Head west on W Wisconsin Ave toward N. 12th Street. Turn left onto N. 27th Street. Continue onto S. Layton Blvd. Turn right onto W. Mitchell Street.

By bus: Take the #30 bus toward Florist Street. Get off at 27th and Wisconsin to transfer to bus #27 towards College. Get off at intersection of Layton and Mitchell. Walk to 3025 W. Mitchell Street.

Days/Hours of Volunteering: Two to three hour time slot Monday-Wednesday 5-8pm.

Description of Agency: Milwaukee Women's Center is a shelter for battered women and their children. The agency provides shelter for women who are in imminent danger and need a temporary sanctuary from their abusive partners. The Milwaukee Women’s Center provides holistic care to empower women and families who are experiencing abuse to live safe, independent and healthy lives.

Student Role at Agency:

Child Care: Interacting with children verbally in a positive and encouraging manner. Positive reinforcement is expected. Perform duties that are expected during child care including: supervising the children, accompanying children on scheduled field trips, cleaning up play room after each use, participating and planning age appropriate activities.

Dinner: Help serve dinner to the women at the center.
