Learning from and with peers

Looking back at our VPODs in a group setting really allowed for all of us to feel more confident in our tutoring strategies. Presenting your worries to a group of writing center peers has a calming effect in that they are able to reassure you that you are actually approaching a conference the right way or, in some cases, affirm that perhaps there is an area to improve. Even when there is an area that you need to improve, reflecting in a group allows your group members to share moments when they made similar mistakes. Overall, we emerge as more confident tutors, even if it was an uncomfortable process.
