University College Dublin, the largest university in Ireland, is a vibrant, modern university of over 25,000 students situated on a spacious and leafy campus some 3 miles south of Dublin city center. For students, both Irish and international, it is a supportive and stimulating environment in which to spend a period of intellectual and personal development. UCD offers a lively campus community in which to live and study with modern buildings and first-class academic and sporting facilities. Students are encouraged to become actively involved in the wide range of social, cultural and sporting activities available on-campus. UCD also has comprehensive student support services, including a student health center, student advisors, counseling and careers advisory facilities. Over 5,000 of UCD’s students come from outside Ireland providing a valuable international environment.

University housing is available for 2,500 students and UCD student residences typically consist of apartments of three or four people. Each student has their own single room and shares bathroom and kitchen facilities. There are several different apartment complexes on campus and students are able to identify preferences on their housing application. Space can be limited, and UCD’s International Office provides assistance to international students who must seek accommodation off-campus.

Orientation
Orientation sessions provide detailed information about student life at UCD. There are university tours, sessions to introduce students to the culture, history and politics of Ireland and social events at which students will meet their peers. Walking tours introduce you students the city and its principal landmarks. It's important to attend the orientation program because it will make your first days and weeks at UCD easier.
Courses offered
UCD is a comprehensive university that offers courses in a wide range of subject areas. Generally courses are 5 ECTS credits, the equivalent of 3 U.S. credits and a full course load for the semester is 30 ECTS credits (five courses). Grades do not transfer to Marquette University for this program. Only credits will transfer provided that a grade of ‘C’ or higher is earned.

No visa is necessary to study in Ireland. Upon arrival in Ireland, students will be required to register with the local police.
Students participating in this program are expected to make their own flight arrangements. You must wait until you have been officially accepted to UCD before purchasing airline tickets. Student Universe (www.studentuniverse.com) and STA Travel (www.statravel.com) are two travel agencies that can often help students find flexible, discounted tickets.
