Click here to log in to the old Horizons study abroad online system. If you studied abroad in fall 2012, you may still need access to retrieve course approvals or other information. This link will no longer work after May 2013.
The transcript(s) for your semester(s) abroad should be sent to the Registrar’s Office one to three months after you finish your final exams. After the Registrar’s Office has processed the transcript, your college will determine how the credits will be accepted (usually based on your study abroad course approval form).
You can check on the status of your courses and credits through CheckMarq by following the steps below. If you do not see courses posted in CheckMarq and want to check the status of your credit transfer, your next step should be to call the Office of the Registrar to find out if your official transcripts have been received. If so, please then contact the records office in your college to find out if Marquette equivalents have been posted. If your credits were not accepted as they were approved by your college/department, you should present a copy of your course approvals to your college records office so the appropriate adjustments can be made.
(Marquette Study Center in Madrid, South Africa Service Learning Program and faculty-led summer programs)
Please note: Transfer credit will NOT be granted for a course if you
earned below a C or
if you took it pass/fail.
We are very interested in hearing feedback and details about your particular study abroad program so we may better advise students looking to study abroad in the future. OIE will send you a short re-entry survey by e-mail. Student responses are a vital component in the evaluation of our current program offerings. Your responses will be kept anonymous. We appreciate you taking the time to complete the survey.
Additionally, you will also be sent information about completing the Global Perspectives Inventory, which is separate from the re-entry survey. The GPI is being used to assess how your views and perspectives are shaped by the study abroad experience and will be used to guide future programming.
Schedule an appointment with your adviser upon returning to campus to discuss your transcript and schedule. This is important to make sure you are on track for graduation and that you are taking the necessary required courses.
Ensure that Student Health Service has an accurate, up-to-date record of your immunizations and that you have completed your TB screening. Find these here.
Because of the prevalence of infectious disease in some foreign countries, students studying abroad should ensure that they are in compliance with the university immunization policy. Not doing so can result in a hold placed on registration. This policy requires all newly admitted, readmitted and study abroad students to provide proof of immunizations, complete a medical history form and complete a screening instrument for tuberculosis. MMR (measles, mumps, rubella), varicella (chickenpox) and tetanus/diphtheria immunizations are required. This policy was implemented in the interest of keeping students healthier and creating a healthy campus community at large.
Questions about this policy can be directed to Student Health Service via e-mail or by calling (414) 288-7184.
