This panel includes people who have taught or volunteered abroad and will provide advice about approaching these options. Come prepared to learn about various programs for teachers and teacher training as well as ways to navigate the search for international volunteer work.
- International Careers in the Private Sector - This session will focus on how to use your international experience in the private sector. With businesses becoming increasingly global, the skills that you learned abroad can jump start your career in the private sector. Learn about opportunities for international careers as well as how to take advantage of your international experience for a domestic career.
- Careers in International Education - Careers in International Education: Plot your own career in International Education and interact with a panel of International Educators representing diverse job roles in the field. The panel will provide insight into how they started their career and where International Education has led them. This session will offer tips and resources for students interested in pursuing a career in International Education.
- Graduate School Programs
- More and more students are pursuing Master’s Degrees with an international focus, either here in the United States, or abroad. Attend this session to learn more about educational opportunities available to you post graduation.
- Think Globally, Act Locally - Do you want to take your international experience and use it on your home campus or in your home community? Come to this session to learn about how returning study abroad students from around Wisconsin have channeled their international interest at their respective universities.
- Careers in International Justice/Social Justice - This session provides an opportunity to hear from professionals working in organizations committed to social justice both domestically and internationally. In addition to being introduced to specific organizations, you will have an opportunity to hear how such organizations can benefit from the skills, knowledge, and experiences of former study abroad students.
- Marketing Your International Experience - Now that you have studied abroad, you have developed a unique package of skills. Learn how to identify, assess, and emphasize these skills that employers and graduate schools are seeking in their applicants. You will have the chance to reflect on what attributes you gained personally, professionally, and academically so that you know how to bring them out in a resume, cover letter, or interview.
- International Scholarships and Fellowships - Join this session to learn about scholarships and fellowship programs available to students wanting to continue their international experience beyond study abroad. Various programs will be identified and application tips will be offered.
- Resume Critiques - Bring your current resume to be evaluated by Career Services professionals and learn, in an interactive workshop, how to highlight your international experience in a professional job search.
The conference will conclude with a wrap-up and prize drawings.
