Antwerp Program Overview

University of AntwerpAs of October 2003, the Universitaire Faculteien Sint-Ignatius Antwerpen (UFSIA) and two other universities RUCA and UIA have become part of the University of Antwerp.  UFSIA’s campus is located in the historic center of the city at a 15-minute walking distance form the Central Station. The University of Antwerp has approximately 10,000 students. Over 1,000 of these students are from foreign countries, with a majority of EU countries (exchange students not included).

Campus Facilities

Campus Restaurants: The University has numerous cafeterias that offer meals at reasonable prices

ICT Facilities: Every campus has free use of PCs for word processing and navigation of Internet. 

Libraries: Each University has its own library with an interlibrary loan system so students can access all records.  These libraries have Internet computers that can be used for a small fee.

ESN - The Erasmus Student Network is very active in Antwerp.  It offers regular cultural and social programs and organizes gatherings and various activities for international students

UNIFAC - UNIFAC is the umbrella student association of the Stadscampus-University in Antwerp. Its task is to inform the students about current events and activities of the University of Antwerp. (e.g., Night of the Movie, Christmas @ UFSIA, UNIFAC city-trip, etc.)

Sport Council - The sports council organizes a wide assortment of intramural competitions including indoor soccer, basketball, volleyball, badminton, and table tennis. The required membership card is available for a reasonable price (6 euro). Additionally, classes are offered in aerobics and condition training, as well as introductory classes for a wide variety of sports.

Grading System

Marquette’s Grading Scale is different from the Grading Scale used at the University of Antwerp.  Students will transfer credits back to Marquette for those classes where the student received a grade of 12 or higher.  Please note that grades do not transfer, only credits do. The Grading Scale used at UFSIA is the following
