REVEREND HARRY J. GENSLER, S.J., to hold the Reverend Francis Wade, S.J., Chair for Spring 2014.

Fr. Gensler, S.J., who earned his PhD at the University of Michigan and has taught at the University of Scranton, Gonzaga University, John Carroll University, and Loyola University Chicago, is teaching in the philosophy department at Marquette for the spring semester 2014.

 Fr. Gensler has published widely in his areas of academic expertise, specifically ethics, logic, and the golden rule, and his articles can be found in journals such as the Philosophical Quarterly and the Journal of Value Inquiry, among other academic periodicals. He has written books on “Symbolic Logic: Classical and Advanced Systems,” “Formal Ethics,” and the “Historical Dictionary of Ethics,” among others, and while here at Marquette, will be doing research for his fourteenth book, “Ethics and Religion,” a volume commissioned by Cambridge University Press.

Fr. Gensler will deliver the Wade Public Lecture on April 8, 2014, at 4 o’clock pm, in the Beaumier Suites in Raynor Library. The title of his lecture is “The Golden Rule.”  This lecture is open to the public, but seating is limited. For further information, please contact Kim Newman.
