"I feel very fortunate to teach in the College of Professional Studies as it embodies what St. Ignatius had in mind when he designed the archetype for Jesuit Education. St. Ignatius was a returning adult student when he began his university education. He, therefore, understood the value of the teacher factoring in the student's life experiences, employment skills, and previous education into their classroom instruction. He further believed that the teacher and student are in a unique relationship that serves to enhance the student's intellectual knowledge and skill set and assists the students to discover their role in the world in service to others. Therefore, I integrate the Ignatian Pedagogical Paradigm (IPP) into all of my classes to assist students to reach these outcomes and because it is what makes the College of Professional Studies and a Marquette University education a unique value and distinguishes it from all other non-Jesuit colleges and universities. Teaching in the College of Professional Studies also allows me to bring my own experiences as a returning adult student into the classroom and support students in their efforts to meet academic demands and at the same time balance work and home life."
