ADVANCED TEAM BUILDING     1.5 CEUs

Today's workplaces rely increasingly on the ability of groups to work together as a team. The meaning of teamwork is changing to mean more than a group of people following a leader.  Teams today are often quite large and team members often have more technical knowledge than the leader.  This course will cover a number of advanced topics that have not traditionally been part of a manager's skill set.  As a result of this course, participants will be better prepared to develop the abilities of their group to make difficult decisions together, resolve conflict interpersonally and as a group, and to bring continuous learning out of their experiences together.

Topics to be covered include:

  • Mediating disputes between team members and how to teach conflict resolution.
  • Facilitating very difficult meetings where emotions run high.
  • Creating a shared team vision and operating guidelines.
  • Coaching "star" players to support others.
  • Using "After Action Reviews" to bring learning insights out of failures and successes.
  • Creating opportunities for team members to build interpersonal trust.
  • Incorporating teamwork into performance reviews.
