What does "CEU" mean?

Continuing Education Units (CEUs) recognize and record the efforts of individuals who satisfactorily complete Marquette University's non-credit courses. CEUs awarded are indicated in each course description. One CEU = 10 classroom hours. Therefore .1 CEU = one hour.

Is there a grading system?

No, students will be awarded CEUs through Letters of Completion distributed following the completion of each course. Regular attendance is an important factor in determining whether a student has satisfactorily completed a course. Students must attend 80% or more of the classroom time to receive a satisfactory rating and be awarded the corresponding CEUs. No partial CEUs are awarded.

COURSE QUESTIONS

I do not understand the prerequisites for a course? Who can help me?

The student adviser can provide more specific information about course content and the skills needed to get the most out of a course. Contact the College office via e-mail at mcps@marquette.edu or by telephone at (414) 288-3153.

Can I receive a waiver for a class or classes in a certificate program?

Yes you can! The intention of our certificate programs is not only to provide documentation of your skills and formal training in your area, but also to build skills in your areas of interest. You do not need to register for courses that will be merely a review of skills you already have. You may contact your adviser and request a waiver for a course or courses. You may then select classes that match your skills and interests to earn the required CEUs. If you wish to receive a waiver, please furnish copies of any Letters of Completion or transcripts for courses you have previously taken. Submit by mail or e-mail with a letter spelling out your request. If you are requesting a waiver based on your experience rather than other courses taken, please provide a reference to the specific experience.

Are course materials included?

Yes, most books, binders and other course materials will be distributed in class and are included in the cost of the course. Any exceptions are noted in the course description.

Will I be given homework in my classes?
