The Career Services Center offers two eight-week career classes. One is designed for students choosing a major or deciding a career path and the other focuses on the job search process.

Upon completion of ARSC 1040-Career Planning and Decision Making, students will be able to:

  1. Gain insight into career interests and personality characteristics
  2. Assess skills, values, and work preferences
  3. Expand knowledge of academic programs at Marquette University as well as the world-of-work
  4. Develop criteria for selecting a career in the form of a personal career blueprint
  5. Explore and select career possibilities based on the career blueprint
  6. Identify skills needed for a chosen career
  7. Devise a plan of accomplishing academic and career goals

Upon completion of ARSC 1050-Job Search Strategies, students will be able to:

  1. Assess interests, skills, values, and work preferences.
  2. Identify marketable skills developed from a liberal arts education.
  3. Demonstrate how to convey the value of transferable skills to employers.
  4. Create a professional resume that clearly outlines student's unique skills and qualifications.
  5. Demonstrate understanding of the dynamics of interviewing.
  6. Use networking strategies to identify future employment options.
