NRA Civil Rights Defense Fund

Deadline: June 1, 2009

Third Year Law Student Scholarship Writing Contest- Open to all individuals who are law students at the date of submission and who have not been previously admitted to practice law in the U.S. Must be in good standing as a third year student in the Fall 2008 term. Scholarships will be awarded to law students who submit papers on the constitutional right to keep and bear arms. First place receives $12,500 toward tuition, second place receives $5,000 and third place receives $2,500. Papers must be of quality suitable for publication in a law review or journal and cannot have been previously published. The author’s full name, address, and phone numbers, as well as a brief discourse on the author’s legal education should accompany entries. Citations should conform with The Bluebook: A Uniform System of Citation, current edition. All entries become the property of the NRA Civil Rights Defense Fund. Papers must be double spaced, not to exceed 30 pages, exclusive of endnotes, of quality suitable for publication in a law review or journal, and cannot have been previously published. The author’s full name, address, and phone numbers, as well as a brief discourse on the author’s legal education should accompany entries. Roscoe Hogan Environmental Law Contest

Deadline: March 31, 2009

Open to any student currently enrolled in an accredited law program. Applicants must have their faculty advisor submit an “intent-to-enter” form. The Law Contest topic is Pollution Preemption: Federal Preemption of State Tort Law and Environmental Protection.
