Warmly welcoming Dr. Michael R. Lovell to Marquette

Inauguration events for President Michael R. Lovell offered the Marquette community a full range of opportunities to warmly welcome our 24th president to campus through worship, reflection and celebration. Events celebrated Marquette's Catholic, Jesuit faith tradition and 133-year history of academic excellence in service to others while showcasing the innovative spirit of discovery and exploration that will lift Marquette to ever greater heights.

The theme of the Inauguration — Ignited in faith. Alive in inquiry. Forward in service. — was inspired by the university's rich tradition of excellence, faith, leadership and service. The Inauguration reflected Marquette's commitment to extending knowledge beyond existing boundaries in pursuit of solutions for pressing problems and answers to life's deepest questions.

In his Inaugural Address, President Lovell announced a series of new university initiatives that aim to propel Marquette forward and further position it as a leader in Milwaukee and beyond.

President Lovell was unanimously elected the 24th president of Marquette University by the Marquette Board of Trustees on March 26, 2014. As the university’s first lay president, he succeeded Interim President Robert A. Wild, S.J., when he took office on July 1, 2014. See the leadership website for more information about President Lovell.
