19. DPS offers driver safety tips

With snowfall beginning to appear in the weather forecasts, the Department of Public Safety encourages Marquette community members to exercise caution when driving through campus and in nearby neighborhoods.

• Obey traffic signals and posted speed limits.
• Pay attention to all that is going on around you. Don’t become distracted by talking on your phone or playing your radio at a high volume.
• Yield to pedestrians in the crosswalks.
• Watch for pedestrians suddenly stepping into traffic, whether they’re in a crosswalk or not.
• Be especially careful during rainy and snowy weather, when streets are often slick, making it difficult for vehicles to stop suddenly.
• Give yourself extra travel time in poor weather conditions.
