13. Student chapter of National Dental Association to host second annual Oral Cancer Walk this weekend

The Marquette School of Dentistry's student chapter of the National Dental Association will host its second annual Oral Cancer 3K Walk and 5K Run, Saturday, Sept. 20, at 10:15 a.m. beginning at the Olin overhang. General registration is $25, registration for children 10 and under is $10, and registration for oral cancer survivors and fighters is free.

In a continuing effort to increase awareness of oral cancer and the importance of early detection, free oral cancer screenings will be performed by community dentists the day of the event from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. for all race participants.

A free continuing education course on oral cancer diagnosis, treatment and the importance of early detection will be offered, Saturday, Sept. 20, from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. at the School of Dentistry. The course is free with registration for the run/walk.
