Public Safety Officers are responsible for preventing and suppressing crime, protecting life and property, and preserving peace throughout the Marquette community.
University Service Officers are responsible for protecting the Marquette community and securing Marquette's property. They conduct walking patrols of the campus buildings and grounds, provide authorized after-hour access to buildings and assist Public Safety Officers as well as campus community members who have locked keys in cars, need jump-starts or require other assistance.
Communications Officers coordinate the department's response to calls for assistance. They monitor the radio communications among officers, answer calls for assistance received via telephone or the Blue Light Phone system and monitor the department's video surveillance systems.
Safety Services Officers provide security for residence halls between midnight and 7:00 a.m. They check the identification of anyone entering the halls, conduct regular building safety and security checks and respond to emergencies.
