Captain Margaret Murphy
Assistant Professor of Military Science & Leadership

Maj Washington Captain Murphy graduated from the University of Portland with a BA in political science. She was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant through the school’s Reserve Officers' Training Corps (ROTC) program in May 2003 and was branched Quartermaster Corps.
 
CPT Murphy served as a SSA Platoon Leader, Brigade Travel Officer, Brigade Assistant S4, and Brigade Assistant S1 with the 172 Stryker Brigade Combat Team, Ft. Wainwright, Alaska from 2003 to 2007. CPT Murphy deployed to Mosul, Iraq with the 172 SBCT in 2005 in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Upon completion of CLC3, CPT Murphy was assigned to a Logistics and Administration Military Transition Team (MTT) and served as the team Supply/Logistics Officer. Her team deployed in 2008 to Taji, Iraq to assist and train the 9th Iraqi Division Logistics Battalion and the 37th Iraqi Brigade Logistics Battalion.
  
Her military education includes the Combined Logistics Captains Career Course, Quartermaster Officer Basic Course, Aerial Delivery and Material Officer Course (Rigger), and Airborne school.
 
Her awards and decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal (1 OLC), Army Commendation Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Iraqi Campaign Medal (2 BS), Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Ribbon (with the numeral 3), Combat Action Badge, Parachutist Badge, and Parachute Rigger Badge.
