Instructor
MSG Ron Clohessy enlisted in the Army in 1975 and spent seven years as a Basic Medial Specialist, Physical Activities Specialist, and Operating Room Specialist serving both in United States and Germany. He left the active Army in 1982 to attend the City University of New York, College of Staten Island. There, he earned an Associate Degree in Applied Science in Nursing in 1986 and a Bachelor of Arts degree in English in 1988. In 1990, he entered graduate program in English at the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee where he earned a Masters of Arts degree in 1992 and a Doctor of Philosophy degree in 2003.
Since 1982, MSG Clohessy has served in the U.S. Army Reserve. His military education includes: Arctic Warfare School, Basic Infantry Course, the Primary Leadership Development Course, Basic Non-commissioned Officer’s Course, Advanced Non-commissioned Officer’s Course, Instructor Training Course, and Drill Sergeant School. His awards and decorations are the Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal (4), Good Conduct Medal, Army Reserve Components Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal (2), NCO Professional Development Ribbon (3), Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, and the Expert Field Medical Badge. His was also awarded the U.S. Army Forces Command Heroes Award in March 2002. His last assignment prior to becoming a Military History Instructor with the Golden Eagle Battalion was as Drill Sergeant with the 2nd Battalion, 273rd Infantry in the 84th Division (IT) here in Milwaukee.
When not in uniform, MSG Clohessy can still be found in the classroom. He teaches English at both the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee and the Milwaukee Area Technical College. His areas of specialization are early American literature, film, and composition.
MSG Clohessy has been married to his wife Suzanne for fourteen years and is the proud father of two future Golden Eagle cadets, Meaghan Elizabeth age 11 and Quinn Virginia, age 18 months.
