Description of Agency/Activities:Community Warehouse is a non-profit, faith-based provider set up to serve people in the Milwaukee community with affordable home and facility improvement materials. Their goal is to partner with foundations, non-profits, individuals, builders, contractors, manufacturers and retailers to provide the resources that are needed for rebuilding Milwaukee’s under-resourced communities and as a result, significantly improve the quality of life in our neighborhoods.
Whether it’s a simple home improvement project or drastic renovation, Community Warehouse is committed to helping members in any way possible. They believe that self-respect and dignity come from having a safe and pleasant home to grow in. Community Warehouse’s focus is to provide relief to Milwaukee neighborhoods in need.
Student Role in Agency: Tasks vary based on student’s interest or physical ability. Students may assist in the warehouse to help residents or non-profit staff from Milwaukee’s Community Development Block Grant Neighborhoods select building materials, sort, price and display donated building materials in the warehouse. Load materials in vehicles and read to, socialize with, or color with member children.
Commitment/Requirements: Spanish-speaking skills are helpful, but not required. Volunteer application and liability waiver is required.
