Take the pledge: To build upon our Jesuit legacy of being men and women for and with others and to mark Father Pilarz’s arrival, the Call to Service asks each member of the Marquette community to commit this year to a service experience. Whatever service you participate in — whether it’s with your peers, your family, your office or even alone — remember that St Ignatius asked us to “go forth and set the world on fire.” Let’s bring together our passion and our Marquette spirit to ignite renewed hope and peace in our world.
The Service Learning Program is available to help you identify service opportunities in the Milwaukee area. Please feel free to call (414) 288-3262 to talk to someone who can help direct you to meaningful projects.
Another excellent resource is the Volunteer Center of Greater Milwaukee. The Volunteer Center has an excellent database that will allow you to search for opportunities. The Center is aware of Marquette’s Call to Service, and is ready to assist you in any way they can.
Marquette Volunteers are also standing by to help members of the Marquette community looking for ways to get involved. For more information about participating in some of the projects sponsored by the Marquette Volunteers, including Project Night Night and the Holiday Giving Tree, please contact Kathy Hawkins at (414) 288-5500.
Here's an opportunity from the Arts and Sciences Student Council that involves knitting scarves for Holocaust rescuers:
