After-School Arts and Tutoring at MLK Jr. Elementary School

By Car: Head east on Wells St. Make a left onto N. 6th St. Turn left onto W. McKinley Ave. then left onto N. Dr. Martin Luther King Dr. Make a right onto W. Ring St. and the first left onto N. 3rd St.

By Bus: Walk or take the 30, 31, 12, or 23 East on Wisconsin Avenue. Take the 19 bus North to the corner of N Dr. MLK Jr. Drive and West Ring Street. Walk half a block East to MLK Jr. Elementary.

Orientation: First day of Service Learning

Days/Hours: Monday-Friday, 2:00 p.m.- 4:30 p.m.

Description of Agency/Activities: An after-school program run by a current Marquette student that wants to help Marquette and the Milwaukee community achieve a partnership to increase the academic disparity plaguing Milwaukee. Volunteers will also have the chance to develop a personal relationship with the elementary student through mentorship.

Student Role in Agency: Tutoring, arts and crafts, and mentorship.

Commitment/Requirements: 2-3 hours per week, plus orientation. Must complete the Working with Minors training.
