Description of Agency: The Child Development Center of St. Joseph is an early education non-profit school for children on the south side of Milwaukee. We provide family-focusedearly childhood education within a Christian-oriented environment for children from infancy through kindergarten. Sponsors, administrators, teachers and staff are dedicated to providing quality programming that develops the whole child while ministering to families.
Role that Service Learners Will Play: Students will assist teachers with either the younger children (ages infant to 12 years old), or the school aged children. Which ever group, students will assist teachers in the classroom and help the children on their projects. With the regular school aged children, Service Learners have the opportunity to listen to children read aloud (just double check the hours with Sr. Brenden).
Commitment: Service Learners must get a TB test and fill out the application form and a background check before starting service, (and before orientation). Students will then bring the completed forms to the Service Learning Office (707 Building across from Carpenter) to be faxed to St. Joseph's.
