Description of Agency/Activities: Eastside Rehabilitation Center is a 24-hour skilled nursing facility (nursing home). It offers a wide range of specialized programs and services, including Rehabilitation Therapy, Alzheimer's Special Care Unit, Respite Care, Sensitive Care Unit for the terminally ill, Oncology Care, Pastoral Care and Counseling, Family and Resident Councils. They also have an Ethics Committee, which is somewhat unique for a nursing home.

Unique features or challenges of agency: Eastside is an impressive place. Well run by enthusiastic, friendly staff with many innovative programs. There are many animals and only live plants are used. Students will be asked to keep a journal for the staff with a few short notes on their daily interaction with the residents.
Commitment: ORIENTATION IS MANDATORY and no make-ups will be offered. Students are required to have a TB test and fill out a volunteer application. Service Learning will hold a 2-day TB Test Clinic on campus. The Student Health Services fee for this test is $5, made payable by cash or check. Volunteer applications should be completed and turned in at sign-up night. Before going to orientation it is best if students have an idea of the department or area they are interested in doing service learning.
