Days/Hours of Operation: General Tutoring Tuesdays and Thursdays 4:30-6:30pm, ESL Tutoring any 2 hour period Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays between 5:30-7:00pm.
Description of Agency: Homework Help is an after-school program that offers one-on-one tutoring and enrichment activities for youth on the near-South Side of Milwaukee. Homework Help is close to Marquette, located in Faith Lutheran Church near the Botanical Domes and Mitchell Park. The program serves grades 1 through 9. In addition to tutoring, children learn conflict resolution skills through arts activities, such as music lessons. The program serves an ethnically diverse population, 50-60% of whom are Hispanic (some native speakers). Recently, the church that sponsors Homework Help, Faith Lutheran Church has merged with a Hispanic congregation.
Student Role in Agency:
Commitment: Two hours per week plus an individual orientation with the site contact on the first day of service.
