Transportation: This site is within walking distance. Go to 13th St., turn left at the stop light (away from campus) and go under the freeway. Cross St. Paul Ave. and the railroad tracks. KGMB is located on the corner of Mount Vernon and 13th St.; the little brown brick building in front of the "Milwaukee Recycles" Facility. Free parking is available in the lot south of the building.

Description of Agency/Activities: KGMB is an award-winning, private, non-profit educational and community service organization which promotes recycling, responsible solid waste management and environmental stewardship programs through outreach to business, industry, government, education, community groups and the residents of greater Milwaukee. As part of the Keep America Beautiful national affiliate network, KGMB has contacts with other affiliates throughout the nation.
Student Role in Agency: Students may choose to help with two current projects. KGMB currently has a community gardens project in place in the area of 22nd and McKinnley. Students will learn about urban community food sustainability, while helping to ready the gardens for the fall. Students will also help educate the residents in the area. Students may also help with KGMB's "Ready, Set, Recyle" education program. In this program, students will help educate youth about recycling and other environmental programs.
Commitment: Orientation plus 2 hours per week for the duration of the semester or flexible hours as per arrangement with Program Director.
