Description of Agency/Activities: La Escuela Fratney is committed to learning, enrichment and support activities that help lessen exposure to negative influences on children. The CLC serves as a resource center designed to help strengthen families, reduce crime, and improve neighborhoods. La Escuela Fratney is a two-way bilingual school; activities at Boys and Girls Club include one-on-one tutoring, and assisting Fratney students in the computer lab. The school also offers English as a Second Language and Spanish as a Second Language tutoring and coursework.
Student Role in Agency:
Tutor La Escuela Fratney students in reading and provide homework and computer help through the drop-in program. Service Learners may be placed with different students over the course of the semester. Spanish tutors are needed for Spanish-dominant students in K5 to fifth grade, and daytime tutoring in classrooms is available.
Volunteers needed in numerous other activities such as soccer, basketball, African dance, art projects and other fun activities.
