Description of Agency/Activities: Milwaukee Achiever Literacy Services provides tutoring and academic instruction for adults in our south side neighborhood who are working to create greater economic security for themselves and their families through education. Our programs include English Language Learning (ELL), Adult Basic Education (ABE), GED/HSED instruction (also GED instruction in Spanish), citizenship preparation, and basic computer instruction. We focus on small group (2-6 people) and one-on-one tutoring in an atmosphere of mutual acceptance and respect. Our program is accredited by ProLiteracy Worldwide.

Student Role in Agency: Service Learners will be trained to tutor adults in one-on-one and small group settings under the supervision of a Program Coordinator. Tutoring for ELL, and tutoring for GED attainment in reading, writing, math, social studies, and science are in high demand.

Commitment/Requirement: Training, observation, and two hours per week for the semester.
