Description of Agency: NDMS is a Catholic middle school founded in 1996 by the School Sisters of Notre Dame. We offer all-girls education to approximately 160 middle school students (5th-8th grades) on Milwaukee’s South Side. Following in the Christian tradition, Notre Dame fosters respect, responsibility, and sharing of personal talents, and prepares students for admittance to a college preparatory high school. In a bi-literate (English and Spanish) setting, with emphasis on leadership skills, critical thinking, and social justice, young women are empowered to make positive contributions to society.
Enrichment Program: All students at NDMS participate in after school programming four days a week from 3:30pm to 6:00pm. This programming is part academic (tutoring and homework assistance) and part extracurricular (arts, athletics, dance, music, formation, etc.).

Description of Agency: Notre Dame Primary School opened its doors three years ago in 2012. It is Milwaukee’s only Catholic co-educational dual language immersion primary school dedicated to serving the Latino community. We provide a culture of excellence where students can achieve their potential in their academic, creative, personal, physical, moral, and spiritual development. Notre Dame Primary School is clearly focused on preparing students for the world of today, not only through academic excellence, but also through instilling spiritual values and a sense of responsibility.
Student Role in Program: Primary school students have the opportunity to participate in an after school program from 3:00pm – 5:45pm Monday-Friday. Service Learners would assist in all aspects of this program, distributing snack, helping with homework, and facilitating structured play spaces. Looking for a commitment of 2-3 hours per week, every week for the entire semester.
Requirements for both Schools: Service Learners are also required to attend a one-time, 3 hour class entitled "Safe Environment Training," an initial training for Safe Environment Education as mandated by the Archdiocese (not included in Service Learning hours). Additionally there is some basic paperwork needed, including a background check that must be completed before beginning to serve at either school. If you have not already completed Marquette's Working With Minors training, you must do so.
