Working at the Service Learning Program has helped open my eyes as well as passion I have to rectifying/exploring the various social justice issues that plague Milwaukee and America as a whole. My passion for social equity and equality was further ignited by working with non-profits as well as my fellow student coordinators. I enjoy working in this office because it helped me identify my passions as well as talents that significantly assisted in helping me pick a future career.
I hope my fellow students will develop a sense of self from his or her Service Learning experience because the ability to volunteer is such a gift. I hope students will develop an understanding of his or her prejudices and stereotypes that will be dispelled by providing service at one of our many non-profit organizations with the Milwaukee community. I hope that there is a reciprocity of learning happening between the Service Learner and the community that he or she is serving.
