About the Program
Fellows participate in a 21-month study/work program while earning a Master's degree in one of the following fields of study:
- Business Administration, M.B.A*
- Civil and Environmental Engineering, M.S.
- Communication, M.A.
- Dispute Resolution
- Economics, M.S.
- Educational Policy and Leadership*
- EDPL-Trinity fellowship is limited to M.A. in Educational Policy and Foundations
- English, M.A.
- History, M.A.
- International Affairs, M.A.
- Applied Philosophy, M.A.
- Political Science, M.A.
- Public
Service, M.A.P.S.
- Trinity fellowships are limited to the following MAPS specializations: Nonprofit Sector*, Criminal Justice Administration, Dispute Resolution, or Healthcare Administration
- Theology*

Fellows are expected to complete their Master's programs in two years by taking approximately nine credits per semester. They are also required to take nine elective credits in the following urban issues courses: Nonprofit Organizations, The Nature of Cities, and Social Justice/Social Activism.
In addition to full-time studies, fellows work on substantive projects designed by selected nonprofit organizations in Milwaukee. Fellows work at their agency-based graduate assistantships 18 hours per week during the academic year, and 40 hours per week during the summer between academic years.
Requirements
In order to qualify for the program, applicants must meet the admission requirements of the Marquette University graduate program of choice. In addition, applicants must also have completed full-time volunteer service in the Peace Corps, AmeriCorps, Jesuit Volunteer Corps, Lutheran Volunteer Corps, or other comparable volunteer organization.
Fellowship Benefits
10 fellowships will be awarded each year. Each fellowship includes:
- Full-tuition scholarship
- Monthly stipend of approximately $1,565 (gross) for books, health insurance, and other living expenses.
Fellowship Fees
Each fellow will contribute a participation fee of $1,250 per semester. The total student participation fee amounts to $5,000 in total. A fellow's contribution may come from an AmeriCorps education voucher, a Peace Corps readjustment allowance, or similar grant.
