Full-time Service Experience:
I served as an AmeriCorps member with City Year Boston from 8/99 to 6/00. I worked with Citizen School teaching after school apprenticeships to urban middle school students to promote pride, joy and respect and enhance reading, writing and math skills.
Trinity Fellowship Experience:
The Public Service Non Profit Management Program offered a comprehensive understanding of issues affecting all non profits including finances, fundraising, evaluation, legal and public policy issues. The course work was very real-world focused and encouraged use of real examples and projects that could be used in the workplace.
As the Fund Development and Special Events Assistant at St. Aemilian-Lakeside, Inc., I was able to develop my own skills and gain experience while offering real service to the agency. My supervisors were very flexible and conscious of assigning projects in which I was able to excel and learn new skills along the way. Overall, the program helped me to gain a mature and educated view of non profit work in the United States. The academic work along with the agency placement afforded me the knowledge and experience necessary to gain a deep understanding of the third sector.
